Workshop Hints
Ingraham Clock Dating

The information on this page was kindly supplied by Murray R. Falk

Almost every Ingraham I have worked on, has had the date coded on the front plate, which cannot be seen unless the movement is removed, or in some instances you could remove the dial instead.

When you can see the front plate, the portion of the plate between the mainspring arbors, has the signature: "E Ingraham Co. Bristol CT. USA."  To the left of this is a stamped numeral (one or two digits).  This is the month.  To the right, is another, usually in slightly larger font. This is the year. The one I have visible at this moment is 4  26, for April, 1926.

The only ambiguity arises if both the month and year are twelve or less, which is resolved by reminding oneself that these are American clocks after all, and their dates are  written MM/DD/YY.
