Open Days

Visitors are  welcome during our open days in Spring, Summer and Autumn with our next Special Open Day Event taking place when the clocks ‘Spring Forward’ on Sunday 26 March 2017.

The Museum is currently undertaking exciting new developments which will see the museum open more regularly during Summer 2017. Details to be released this Spring- please check back for updates.

Alternatively, you can book a group visit throughout the year.

Group visits

Other than on open days and special events, the Museum is closed to the public at present, but organised groups can pre-book a visit and a guided tour of the unique collection.

Group visits to the Museum are led by our knowledgeable staff and volunteers, who provide a warm welcome and an informative tour featuring the museum’s fantastic collection of clocks, watches and other timepieces.

Visits can be tailored to meet the needs and interest of the group, and we advise groups allow up to 2 hours for their visit.

Disabled parking is available, with ground floor wheelchair access.  Some of the museum displays are located on the first floor, accessed via stairs, and a slideshow of photographs of some of these items is presented on the ground floor for visitors unable to access the first floor.

For more information and bookings, please contact the BHI Museum by phone on +44 (0)1636 817601 or email

Here is a reaction we received from Best Foot Forward, Age UK Nottingham and Nottinghamshire: “Our group wanted to say a big thank you to you for your excellent tour last week. You were an excellent and very knowledgeable guide. We had a fascinating time at Upton Hall.”

From a primary school who had an enjoyable day in Upton Hall: “The children are still buzzing and excited over it, and lots of parents came up to me on Friday to say how much their children enjoyed the trip and how much they had learnt and were telling them.”
