Diplomas

Vocational qualifications

The BHI offers three vocational qualifications for the UK’s clock and watchmakers all of which are accredited by the UK’s regulatory qualifications body, Ofqual. They are:
– Diploma in Clock and Watch Servicing (Level 3)
– Diploma in the Servicing and Repair of Clocks/Watches (Level 4)
– Diploma in the Repair, Restoration and Conservation of Clocks/Watches (Level 5)

What the diplomas give you

The Diploma in Clock and Watch Servicing provides you with evidence of employable knowledge and skills which can lead to employment as a technician capable of undertaking basic servicing of clocks and quartz watches.

The Diploma in the Servicing and Repair of Clocks/Watches provides you with evidence of employable knowledge and skills leading to employment as either a skilled clockmaker or watchmaker.  With this qualification you can apply to become a Member of the British Horological Institute (MBHI).

The Diploma in the Repair, Restoration and Conservation of Clocks/Watches provides you with evidence of employable knowledge and skills for employment as a clock or watch conservator or restorer. With this qualification you can apply to become a Fellow of the British Horological Institute (FBHI).

Modular Qualifications

Each diploma qualification can be gained by candidates entering and passing a series of individual unit examinations.
