Basic Clock Case Finishing Course

A Perfect Finish

This one day course, delivered by a professional furniture restorer/polisher is designed for those who are new to restoring and re-finishing furniture and clock cases. The course has been designed to complement the skills of horologists and people who buy or own antique clocks or furniture that needs bringing back to life.

The aim of this course is to enable the student to recognise the state and condition of the clock case, then to be able to decide on the best course of action, salvaging the finish and making the clock usable and looking its best. It will also to enable you to perform small repairs, strip to the original wood if necessary and restore and polish to a standard suitable for the individual requirements of the case. You will be introduced to a variety of woods and veneers with a range of finishes in the BHI museum.

You do not have to bring any tools, equipment or materials with you, just a small clock case you wish to discuss and work on.

Tea, coffee and lunch will provided.

Book your place

The cost is only £139, which includes the use of a small polishing kit which you can take away with you. Places are limited so early booking is advisable.
